The third edition at Mirafiori: 1,311 finishers, three races and, for one morning, the test track open to runners.
The third CEDAS We RUN brought 1,311 people to the finish line. The race went through the historic Mirafiori car plant and out onto its test track, a space that is normally closed to the public.
Three races on the same morning: the competitive FIDAL 10K, the non-competitive 10K and the 5K open to everyone. Both 10K races also counted towards the Trofeo Agnelli, and at the finish there was a medal for everyone.
At 9:00, from the Stellantis &You forecourt, the 10K and the 5K set off together. In the start pen, hands on watches; under the arch, the field stretching out.
After the first kilometre you enter the plant, then 2.5 km on the track where Turin-built cars were tested for decades. At 4 km you leave: 5K runners were nearly home, while the 10K carried on along Corso Orbassano, Corso Settembrini and Corso Agnelli before the final stretch to the finish.
303 runners finished the competitive 10K: 224 men and 79 women. Matteo Lovera (Atletica Saluzzo) won in 33:35, 16 seconds ahead of Alessio Buraccioni (A.S.D. AT Running). In the women’s race Sara Vasone (Olimpiatletica) clocked 37:24, 16th overall, more than two minutes clear of Isabel Trinchieri (Battaglio C.U.S. Torino Atl.).
Then everyone else. 1,008 people finished the two non-competitive races: 782 over 10 km and 226 over 5 km, running or walking, each at their own pace.
Waiting for everyone at the finish: the gold medals with the runner raising both arms and the red “I’m CEDAS We RUN” ribbon, over 10 km and 5 km alike.
