Maratona Reale 1st edition and Una Corsa da Re 13th edition

Maratona Reale 1st edition and Una Corsa da Re 13th edition

Maratona Reale, 1st edition: this year the historic “Una Corsa da Re” event adds something completely new: the first edition of the full Maratona Reale, an event set to attract runners from all over Italy and beyond.
The date is Sunday 12 October 2025, in the stunning setting of the Reggia di Venaria, the royal palace near Turin, in a town named European City of Sport 2025, a title that highlights the sporting and cultural importance of the area. Athletes and sports fans can not only take part in a top-level race but also immerse themselves in the architectural and natural beauty of the Reggia and its gardens.

The course of the Maratona Reale, 1st edition, certified by World Athletics, winds through breathtaking scenery, from the majestic gardens of the Reggia di Venaria to the heart of Parco La Mandria, passing through the towns of Druento and San Gillio. This new “full” version replaces the previous stage format, giving athletes an even more engaging running experience. Runners will enjoy a variety of landscapes, including woods, nature trails and unique views, making every kilometre a thing of beauty. Aid stations will be strategically placed to give runners the best possible support during the race.

The Maratona Reale, 1st edition offers running fans a unique chance to be part of an unprecedented event. It isn’t just a race, but a community experience that brings together runners of every age and level. The event also aims to promote healthy, active lifestyles, encouraging families to take part and enjoy a day of sport and fun. Side events, such as introductory running courses and fitness demonstrations, will be organised to get the crowd even more involved.

The 13th edition of Una Corsa da Re keeps its traditional multi-distance format for runners of every level, so everyone can find the right challenge for their abilities. The distances include options for experienced athletes as well as for beginners. Events like this aren’t just a way to test your physical abilities, they’re also a chance to socialise with other enthusiasts and network with professionals in the field. There are prizes for the winners of every category, making the event even more competitive and exciting.

  • The Half Marathon (21 km): certified for the third year running, this is the historic distance that has been there since the very first edition. Runners love it for its scenic course, with unmissable views of the Reggia and its beautiful gardens. The Half Marathon is a great choice if you’re looking for a middle-distance challenge, and good training for a full marathon in the future.
  • The 10 km: the “classic” Una Corsa da Re race, which attracts more than 60% of participants, with a cut-off time extended to 2 hours so walkers can enjoy the experience too. This distance is ideal if you want to try competitive racing without tackling the long distances. It’s a great opportunity to train and improve, and it’s open to everyone, from beginners to the most experienced runners.

For families and walkers there’s also the Family Run – Corsa del Principino, a 4 km route inside the Reggia Gardens, open to four-legged friends too. This race is designed to involve the whole family, offering a chance for fun and socialising. Participants can walk and run together, enjoying the natural and historic beauty of the Reggia di Venaria and helping create a festive, welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

The event, organised by Base Running together with prestigious local institutions, including the Piedmont Region and the Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude, will see the marathon and half marathon start at 9:00, while the 10 km sets off at 9:30. All races finish in the spectacular Gran Parterre of the Reggia di Venaria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Their involvement underlines the importance of this event in promoting sport and culture, making the Maratona Reale a symbol of excellence for the region.

The event is a unique opportunity to bring together sport, art and nature in one of Italy’s most fascinating historic settings, while celebrating the recognition of Venaria Reale as European City of Sport 2025.
