The speakers

Renato Canova
He is one of the most famous athletics coaches in the world, specialising in middle distance and the marathon. His career, which began in the 1970s, saw him hold important roles in the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL), first in charge of combined events and then as the federation’s marathon coach. But it’s his international work that has left a lasting mark on the world of running. From 1998 Canova began working with Kenyan athletes, moving to Iten, a town known for its training-friendly altitude. There he developed an innovative method based on building race-specific endurance, which led many of his athletes to Olympic and world medals, as well as world records. Leading names include Stephen Cherono (later Saif Saaeed Shaheen), Florence Kiplagat and Kenenisa Bekele. He has also worked with the federations of several countries, including Qatar and China, and coached European athletes such as Sondre Moen and Julien Wanders. Considered a pioneer of training methodology, Canova combines science and practice in the field, adapting programmes to each athlete’s needs. His philosophy isn’t limited to improving physical performance: it also includes a cultural approach that blends elements of African and European training. Alongside his work in the field, he is active as a speaker and writer, sharing his vast experience with coaches and enthusiasts all over the world.

Ettore Pelosi
Dr Ettore Pelosi is a medical nutritionist with long experience in sports nutrition and supplementation. A medical graduate specialising in nuclear medicine, he has made his name with personalised diets, with a particular focus on athletes, both competitive and amateur. He is known for his innovative approach, which combines nutritional science with plant-based, ketogenic and food-combining dietary strategies.
Pelosi is the founder of the “OmeoDieta” programme, which aims to optimise sports performance through targeted nutrition plans. He works with athletes from different disciplines, including swimming and triathlon, and is the author of books such as “La dieta vegan per lo sport” (The vegan diet for sport). He also takes an active part in conferences, webinars and training courses on sports nutrition, sharing his experience with professionals and enthusiasts. He currently works at the CDC Gruppo Affidea centre in Turin and also offers consultations online. His philosophy is based on a scientific, personalised approach aimed at improving athletes’ health and performance through the right nutrition and supplementation.

Mattia Roppolo
Dr Mattia Roppolo is an expert in osteopathy and sports injury prevention. With a multidisciplinary approach, he focuses on improving athletes’ health and performance through manual therapy and preventive strategies. His work aims to prevent injuries by improving motor control, joint stability and energy transfer during physical activity. He also champions prevention as central to optimising physical wellbeing and reducing the risk of chronic or acute sports-related problems. Roppolo is also active in raising awareness of health and prevention, using social media to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle and of osteopathy as complementary support for athletes and others. His experience also extends to treating chronic inflammatory conditions, with osteopathic techniques that aim to restore the body’s balance.
